A disappointing result from a game we had more than enough chances in to win. Manukau made the most of their chances, running away to a 4 - 0 lead, before two quick goals by Chris brought us right back into the game. Compounding that for Manukau was the red carding of one of their players, reducing them to 10 for the last 15 minutes. Both Chris' goals were well executed headers, from crosses that were pinpointed just outside the 6 yard box. The Manukau keeper was hopeless under high balls, but we didnt figure this out early enough. Manukau had perhaps 5 chances all game of which they scored 4; conversely we had both Chris and Matty hit the underside of the post and Zane and Kerrin missed good chances as well. Creation was good and there were several positives despite the scoreline, although Macca would probably disagree with that...

The weekends 4 - 1 victory over 3 Kings Kaumaile was generally well executed, altho our defence still offered too many chances for 3 Kings to catch or even overhaul us. Some superb work by Brad in goal really won the game for us. Two early strikes by Kerrin had us off to a fine start with only ten players on the field for Bay. The midfield were still absent for too long, but a third goal to Kerrin and a fine goal to Geoff effectively sealed the game at 4 - 0 with 10 minutes to play. A late rally by Kaumaile saw them earn a consolation, but perhaps the lowlight of the second half was 3 Kings referee - there were NO free kicks given to Bay, despite MANY blatent and flagrent fouls by 3 Kings players. Under an official referee one player would have been sent for a sprigs-up challenge on Brad in goal, and another couple would have received yellows. This was expected; Kaumaile have a reputation for fiery undisciplined play and it should have surprised no-one when their ref called everything to them. Cheating or simply utterly incompetant? I guess thats football in this grade. Too bad it soils our division.

A solid 11 - 1 win in the weekend does a lot for our goal difference. Manurewa played an extreme offside trap, but their backs weren't nearly fast enough to compete and our players ran thru them all game long. We should definately have made more of our chances, but in the end the result was both satisfactory and encouraging. Goals were scored by Matty (3), Geoff (2), Chris, Macca, Kerrin, Milan, Roddy and Adrian (pk).

Our second win of the season was harder than it should have been. Against Mangere we dominated the entire first half but were
unable to convert possesion into goals. Carrying a lead of 3 - 0 into the second half seemed comfortable enough at the time,
but an own goal by Lindo then a superb Mangere strike from a weak clearance soon had them right back in it at 3 - 2 with 30 minutes to play.
The middle of the second half there was a lot of random, end to end football - but once we kept the ball on the ground
we were able to re-establish control. Linden sealed the game when Macca swept across a powerful, low cross straight to Linden's feet
inside the 6 yard box and he tapped home. It was Linden's second in the correct goal and third for the game after Macca played another integral role in setting up Lindo's first.
Aaron also got off the mark with his first of the season, a clinical tap in after rounding the 'keeper.
